I started this post a few weeks back but life got in the way. As a dear cousin so kindly reminded me, I have been slackin' in the bloggin' again. Sorry!
I have been keeping notes in my phone and my lists of Funny Whitney-isms and Grady Facts are growing longer by the hour, so I need to blog it out....lucky you!
First things first:
I colored my hair. Its dark. Its actually super close to my real hair color which is nice since I dont have the time to get my roots done every 5-6 weeks anymore. :( I think my blonde days are behind me. :)
The first time she colored it, it was RED....which is pretty.....but not on me. It was a drastic change.
It was quite a lengthy process since we didnt exactly get it the right color the first time (or the second time,...) but Eric stepped up and was happy to keep both kids at home while I sat in the salon trying to get it right :)
The end result is a brownish, reddish, auburn kinda shade. I like it but am still getting used to it.
We had a busy weekend celebrating the return of one of my favorite girls, Danielle, as she and Eddie prepare to get married this month :) We saw Eric's brother and his wife at Danielle's Welcome Home party :)
After that party, we headed to a local pub to celebrate another Bestie's birthday. Dallas was celebrating the 14th anniversary of her 21st birthday and we were thrilled to have a night out with grown-ups!

Whitney and Grady were happy to spend most of the night at Mac and Gramps' house. We thought Whitney might sleep over, but she absolutely refuses to close her pretty eyes at their house. She will do anything to avoid shut-eye, and in true Grandparent behavior, my parents dont MAKE her go to bed, (They try....but the idea of putting her in a room, turning out the light, and closing the door is just not going to happen at Mac's house.) so when we got back to my parents' house at 1am, Whitney was bouncing around their bed, excited for another episode of Doc McStuffins. :)
In unrelated news, Grady powered through his first cold a few weeks ago. Whitney is such a nice big sister, even sharing the illness she brought home from her second day of school. :( We went to the doctor for his regular check-up and the doc said she didnt think it was allergies, but the tail end of a cold. Poor dude was a trooper as I suctioned the heck out of his little nose over and over. He wasnt really down for the count, but just sick enough to be tired and cuddly.
He's up and at 'em now though! Learning new things every day and continuing to make us smile and laugh :)
And see? He DOES look like me....occasionally. :)
I have a long way to go, but I think I figured out how to make some cute t-shirts. It takes a fraction of the time an emrboidered shirt takes, and looks just as cute :)

Phone Thoughts:
*We told Whitney that "Sugar makes your ears stop working." when she was wild and wound up one day. On a few recent occasions, Whitney has excitedly told us that "I fink I had a lot of sugar because my ears stopped working!"

Whitney: So I can have a TV in my room!
The first week of school, a LOT of people ask kids "How was your Summer?!" Whitney had the exact same response every. single. time.
"Hi, Whitney! How was your Summer?"
"Great! But Im too short to ride Splash Mountain....."
She said it the exact same way every time, with a smile and a small shrug. EVERY. time.
Eric got a big promotion at work, so we were really excited to celebrate and congratulate Daddy!
This little girl is growing up so fast! She cracks us up everyday.
At dinner one night, we told her we were disappointed because she wasnt eating her meal. Her response?
"Wellllllllllllllll YOU are disappointed, but *I* am HAPPY!"

One of my friends bought Whitney a really cool jewelry box for her birthday. It came with tiny little "jewel" stickers to decorate the box ourselves. We finally got around to dolling up that jewelry box a few weeks ago....and we've been finding gems EVERYwhere ever since. They stick to the carpet, sippy cups, the tile floor, clothes....everything. Whitney was having fun going around the house picking up gems and putting them on her arm. She said, "Hey Daddy! When I get done dazzling myself, can we go in the pool?"
I noted to myself the other day that I have been going on errands and getting out of the house with two kids, drama-free, for several weeks now. This may not be a big deal to most people, but back in May, I literally rhought I might never leave the house again. So its nice to notice this little victory and do a happy dance. :) The kids are SO good and its actually fun to take them out and get compliments on their behavior and how cute they are :)
Whitney STILL wears her beloved Snow White dress. We had to retire the first one from Aunt Carol, but she proudly wears Dress #2 almost every day.
We watched The Lorax on NetFlix last week and I asked Whitney if she recognized the voice of the girl in the movie.
"Whitney do you know who's voice that is?"
"Who is it?"
"That's Taylor Swift! You know her songs, dont you?"
"Umm. Actually Mommy. That girl's name is Audrey. But I like Taylor Swift, too. It's okay."
I suppose three is a bit young to understand "voice-overs".
Eric and I love that Whitney still calls it a "heart beep" instead of a heartbeat. LOVE.
Whitney and I have really been loving reading Chapter Books! I found a Cinderella chapter book at Target a few weeks ago, and couldnt wait to get started with my girl! The plan was to read a chapter a night, and most nights she would beg me to keep going! It was a great way to talk about characters and setting and help her remember what happened in the chapter the night before. She has a remarkable memory and was able to recall the tiniest details!
I also loved that the book was super kid-friendly. I have found that not all kids' books are nice or have nice characters. Its hard to explain why a kid might "hate school" or "hate his teacher" when my three year old is loving school and looooving her teacher. Those are lessons I'd rather not dig into til later.
The Disney chapter books are proving to be really age appropriate with easy to understand concepts and feelings that Whitney can relate to. She LOVED the book about Cinderella, and we just started Ariel's book the other night. She is already talking about getting the books about Belle and Tiana, so I am calling it a success :)
Its a fun way to end the day and get her excited about reading!
I have about a gajillion more pics to upload, but that will have to wait, as nap time is quickly coming to an end today. :)
