Sweet Dreams

So it's trash day at our house. And this happened this morning.

The crib my babies slept in.  The crib I brought our first Bass Bass home to....

.....and where that sweet girl dreamed sweet dreams.

The crib that would surprisingly come back down from the attic to hold Bass Baby number two....

......keeping him safe and secure for so long, that he didnt want a big boy bed until he was three and a half.

The crib where I stood holding my new daughter on the day she came home, making me a new mommy, and standing there with my own mommy.

The crib where Bailey and Bingo and Bo Peep watched over sleeping babies.

The crib I placed this sweet angel in, wrapped like a burrito.  Where she wouldnt wake or stir until morning, when she would wake happy and chatty.

The crib where our babes woke on their first Christmas morning, Easter morning, birthdays, and heck, Grady even woke there on his very first day of school.

The crib where our princess would feel shoes on her feet....and become a dancing queen....

....until she crashed.

The crib where our babies stood smiling with their arms outstretched for hugs.

That crib awaited freshly bathed, happy, sleepy babies day after day.  I loved each day with my babies, but I especially loved those moments in the day after bath time when we would put on a fresh diaper and fresh jammies, sing and laugh in the mirror, and read books and say prayers before putting our sweet babies to bed in that crib.

And I thought it was amazing and awesome to have those moments with Whitney.  But was totally floored and in love all over again when we got to start that routine with our Dude.

Our children are very different sleepers yet they both loved that crib, never fighting bedtime and always feeling safe and happy in their bed.  Whitney didnt sleep through the night until she was ten or eleven months, and Grady was sleeping through the night by ten weeks. But they both loved that crib.

Whitney slept swaddled in that crib and woke up happy and smiley every single day, while Grady fought the swaddle and woke up grumpy more often than not.  But they both loved that crib.

That crib was the scene of many of the early interactions between big sister and little brother. I LOVE those moments.

They have shared a bond from the start.

And those moments of sibling smiles and fun, just got better and better.

That crib was visited frequently by a proud and excited big sister, anxious to see if her little bro was awake and ready to watch her every move.

Bedtime snuggles are always full of laughter and love.....

And we dont need a crib for that.

I waited a LONG, LONG time to have a crib in our home.  I always knew it WOULD happen, but wasnt sure when and I was very impatient.
I am sad to say goodbye to that crib.  But it was totally worth the wait.

Thank you for holding my babies and keeping them safe in their sweet dreams.
