edited to take out the names of the innocent before employers find out from the source :)
Quit calling me and emailing me and IMing me...I'll spill it! :)
MY BFF IS PREGNANT!! I couldnt be happier for her! Please keep her baby bean in your prayers and think happy thoughts! I know we will all breathe a huge sigh of relief when they hit the 12 week mark, so we only have 8 more weeks to wait :) Until then, hold your breath, say prayers, and hope that baby sticks tight for a long rest before gracing us with his/her presence in June! :)
I am BEYOND excited! They quickly became two of our best friends EVER, and are unbeatable! I cant wait to see their offspring! :) I literally couldnt be happier if I had peed on a stick myself! I want this baby for them as badly as I want Baby Bass for us! :) XOXOXOX
In Baby Bass news, we had two phone calls with our agency today. I make Eric do the calling since I am chicken. :)
The first call went something like this:
Eric: Hi Denise, Kathleen and I have been doing some research on vaccines and we wanted to ask some questions about what our baby will receive in the hospital....(nice way to fake it, right?)
Denise: Well, we have never had a baby go home without getting all the vaccines the hossy requires, but....(more vaccine related talk).....and i am sorry to say that we dont have any exciting news for you this month.
Eric: ok, thanks for the info. We'll talk next month.
Sorta leaves you wanting more, right????? RIGHT!!!!! I would venture to guess that 99% of the people reading this are women. And women want DETAILS!! I wanted MORE! So I asked (read: made) Eric to call back and ask some questions. Reluctantly, he did...and I am happy now. :)
The second convo went something like this:
Eric: Hi Denise...Eric Bass again....sorry to bug you, but kathleen and i are a little upset that our profile hasnt even gone out ONCE in 2 months. You told us last month that you had a huge rush of birthmoms, and so we are slightly surprised that our profile has been sitting on a shelf and hasnt even been appropriate to be shown ONCE yet.
Denise: Oh, well, the profiles dont sit on a shelf. They are in a bookcase.
Eric: Oh....well, we really dont want it just sitting anywhere...we want it OUT THERE, being SHOWN. We kinda need to feel like something is being done...like we are working towards something.
Denise: Eric, I am kidding about the bookcase. And yours hasnt been just sitting there. You guys were shown once...on Sept 25th we gave your profile to a birthmom. She made her decision on Thursday and she picked another family. I just didnt think you'd want to hear that you werent picked.
Eric: OH! Well...that's great! I mean, its not GREAT, but we are just glad we were OUT THERE, in the pool. At least we were given a shot. If she didnt pick us, its because God has another baby in store for us...that just wasnt the right baby for US...we just need to know that we are shown. If we arent chosen, we are okay with that. We just hate to think that time is going by and nothing is being done.
Denise: 99% of my adoptive families DONT want to be told if they have been shown because they dont want to know if they arent chosen. They dont want to wonder why they werent chosen.
Eric: I can understand that. That makes sense. I guess we look at it differently. At least we were out there. That helps us feel productive since this is soooo out of our hands now.
.....
So...it went on from there but the rest isnt important. The news is: we were shown once and not chosen. I am SOOOOO okay with not being chosen. I honestly dont really wonder "why werent we chosen...why didnt she pick us"...after years of treatments and waiting periods, I am just happy that something is moving. Maybe it is moving in place, as opposed to moving FORWARD...but at least we arent moving BACKWARDS!
I know we will be chosen eventually :) God has the perfect Baby Bass just for US. :)And the perfect best friend already on their way :)
PS For those of you who know the news, please dont spread it as employers and other friends dont know yet....Kirsten, you know who I am talking about, and I know who I am talking about, but *THEY* dont need to know who we are talking about :) wink, wink, sister :)

Congrats to your best friend!!
So happy to hear that ya'll spoke with your agency and that you have been shown. I know several couples that DO NOT want to know when they are shown but I am like you, I like to know. I don't beat myself up that we were not chosen so far by one of the 13 women that have looked at our profile because I know that their baby was not the one God has chosen for us...just like you. And one day we will be...it is not a matter of IF it is a matter of when.
God bless and ya'll are in my prayers.
I always wanted to know our profile was being sent out. I found it offered a lot of hope.
Hey Kathleen! I just found your blog and am so happy things are going forward for you. I know you and Eric are so excited! Miss you!
O YEAH you've been looked at! How exciting to know that SOMEONE at least looked. Baby Bass is just waiting for you, I just know it!
Hey Kathleen!
I was glad to hear your post although I know its not the news you want. But you are right! Your profile was shown and this is a step in the right direction. The right baby WILL come for you -- trust me. I am also glad you called again. Denise knew that your initial phonecall was not really about vaccines -- you guys are funny! She's pretty staright forward. If you want her to contact you every time your profile is shown, I think she will. Remeber she is working for you. Next time YOU call. She will like hearing from you. Trust me, I made Jeremy call also:)
Baby bass is on his or her way...don't you worry! I
That's great that you have been looked at! :)
Congrats to your friend too!
And good for you for researching vaccines. Hep B (a sexually transmitted disease --insert eye roll here--) is given in the hospital as well as vitamin K.
Great news about your BFF!
I can so relate when I was reading about your hubby's convo with the agency. It just makes me laugh...what, do they think you can't take it? Most families waiting to adopt have been through the wringer with family building challenges. I also get excited about our profile being shown, even if we're not chosen. At least we're being given the opportunity....best of luck!
