We are only two days into March and the excitement has started! This month holds my birthday, our 7th wedding anniversary, St. Patrick's Day (BIG party at my parents' house!), three baby showers for Grady, and BEAUTIFUL weather! Whitney and I kicked off the month with some pool time, and fun in the sun! Whitney was excited to pull out all of her pool toys, and was happily singing, "You gotta fwend in me! You gotta fwend in me!!" as she plucked all the Toy Story pool guys from the stash. She HAD to wear the swim mask "Just in case I assidentawee go unduh duh wadduh!" (in her 5 inches of kiddie pool).
While she played and splashed and squealed (a new phase I am hoping runs its course before baby brother arrives and is easily startled by big sister's ability to squeal with excitement without any warning or consideration for those around her) I sat on the porch with my legs in the sun, because we all know that "tan fat" looks much better than "pale fat". As it got hotter and hotter, I was chugging ice water. I rested the giant cold cup on my belly, and Grady instantly reacted! No matter where I placed the cup, he was wiggling and trying to get away from the chill. Sooo cool. :)
As I mentioned in my last post, I couldnt remember the last time I cooked a legit meal. Food and I have a weird relationship right now, and cooking or handling raw meat was just not happening. After admitting that publicly, I figured it was time to get over it and make it happen. Thankfully, I had a nice, happy helper in the kitchen with me as I attempted a basic chicken, rice, and veggie meal for the fam. :)
Grady's room is about 95% done, and after much indecision we finally tackled the dresser painting. Its not done, as we still have to paint some of the doors on the left side, but i can already tell I am going to LOOVE it :) Just need to do the mirror, get a lampshade, cover the cornice board, and figure out the closet/clothing situation, and we are ready for G to arrive!
Today is Dr. Seuss' Birthday, and kids across the country were celebrating the author in style and with special treats, thanks to Pinterest :) Whitney was so excited to wear her Cat in the Hat outfit! (And Im excited that she can wear it again next weekend at the shower my girlfriends are throwing for Grady...the theme is "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, NEW Fish" :) )
After school today, my mom snapped some pics of me and my girl and they might be among some of my favorite recent pics! She was so goofy and silly, and of course we had to follow our new "rule": Take one SILLY FACE picture and then one HAPPY FACE picture. She thought it was hilarious that mommy got in on the silly face fun :)
She has the BEST laugh on the planet.
And of course she was THRILLED when Gramps was pulling in the driveway from golf!
We just cant figure out what life was like before this happy little girl came along! She brings so much fun and happiness and laughter and joy to everyone around her, and we are so thrilled that we get to be her family.
And naturally, Little Brother had to have a matching tee :)
We are all looking forward to a FUN weekend with family, celebrating our little dude and spending time with the people who mean the most. I have been kept in the dark about 99% of the family baby shower planning, so Im excited to see what these creative, fun girls have come up with at tomorrow's event!
It's going to be an awesome month!!
(On a side note, I was in the ER yesterday afternoon and wanted to document it here to keep track of pregnancy stuff. Turns out the pains I was feeling are, again, related to the scars I have from surgeries. Grady was happy to cooperate and still has a nice, strong, "perfect" heartbeat. I was having small, regular contractions, but the doc is not at all concerned since Grady handled them nicely and I havent made any progress towards labor. Once we got him to move and shake again (he was still for over 2 hours), I could let the pain go and move on. I just needed reassurance that he was fine and hangin' in for the next several weeks)
