Whitney is laying in bed with me watching Idol. A rare treat for both of us. The contestant is adopted. I said "Hey that guy is adopted just like you!" She says "Awesome! Mommy? What does adopted mean again?"
"Remember? It means that you grew in Ms. T's belly but I get to be your mommy.""Oh yeah. But will you be my mommy forever?"
"Of course!! Forever and ever!"
She sits up, smiles and says "oh good! Because you're my favorite Mommy!"
I'm a puddle of happy tears.
She then proceeds to tell me "Mommy, I love you to the moon and back and around the block."
It can't possibly get better.
but then it DID get better:
She just told me she wants me to be her mommy when she grows up and she wants me to be proud of her "the way that guy's mommy is proud of him on the show" (when the guy made it to Hollywood.) and now she has to go sleep in her own bed because I can't handle this many blessings in one sitting!!!
LOVE that kid.
Whitney was hangin' in bed with me since Eric was out of town on a business trip. To celebrate his safe arrival back at home, we had a date night!
We got a $50 coupon/gift card to Capital Grille, and it had to be used by Feb 1st, so my parents were awesome enough to watch the kids while we got to be grown ups!
We got to eat the yummy meal without wrestling an infant or answering countless preschooler questions. We only cut our own meals. We had wine. We got dessert! And we talked about real life....it was fun to sit and chat with undivided attention. Its always nice to fall a little more in love with the husband, right? :)
And as loooong as he's known me.....
....I have ALWAYS been a picture-taker.....
.....so why does he bother putting up a (fake) fight......
.....ever single time.....
.....I say, 'Let's take a pic!"!??!
I know why he does it.
Because he knows, after ten years, I still laugh every time he makes dumb faces at the camera. :)
The next night on Grady's floor right before bedtime:
Lately we've been gathering in one of the kids' rooms right before putting them in bed for the night. The laughs are contagious and a great way to end the day :)
And sometimes, impromptu fashion shows break out.
This chick? Refuses (with tears!) to practice writing letters of the alphabet. But a little birdie told me she has been enthusiastically writing her letters for her teachers at school. No arguments or drama or tears for them!
Eh. As long as she's getting the practice somewhere, right?
The kids were happy to have Daddy home from Chicago, too :)
Because we are gluttons for punishment, we took both kids to Toys R Us one weekend. I cant even remember why we "had" to go in there, but we found ourselves wandering the aisles and talking about Whitney's 4th birthday in April.
She and Eric narrowed down her wish list pretty quickly :)
Im not sure this is on the final draft of the wish list, as she hasnt mentioned it once since we left the store, but IF it were to make the cut, I suspect it wouldnt be a PINK car, so little bro could be seen around town in it a few years from now :)
Our weather has been bipolar here lately. COLD (50s) one day and WARM (high 70s) the next.
On one particularly chilly, windy day, this is how we entertained ourselves:

This poor mutt. Bailey is ten years young and still shows signs of puppyhood, however his eyesight is awful. According to his vet, Bailey is completely blind in one eye, and about 90% blind in the other. It happened fast, as I know he wasnt blind when Grady came home less then ten months ago.
We took him to the vet two weeks ago and have been giving him eye drops three times a day. So far, Im hopeful that the drops are reducing the inflammation that is causing his blocked retinas.
He's our first baby and both kids ADORE our Baileydogger. I cant picture our home without this mutt!
Whitney's hair is getting so long and thick! She looks more and more like a big kid every day!
And to close out the month of January, we all went to Be Our Guest, the new restaurant at Disney's Magic Kingdom! We were all VERY excited to dine with the Beast in his castle!
It is always special and really priceless to get to watch my parents, two of my very FAVORITE people in the whole world, smile and laugh and have fun with our kids at the happiest place on Earth!
Our reservation wasnt until 7:30pm (bed time at our house!), but we had two happy kids riding the carousel and watching Philharmagic before dinner!
I believe Be Our Guest is a "must-do" for any out-of-towners visiting Disney for a vacation, but have realistic expectations. The food was not impressive and the ball room was SUPER loud.
But it "snows" outside the ballroom windows as you eat dinner. And the Beast walks through the dining room, which adds some excitement.
And while Belle is no where in sight, the Beast is happy to take pictures with guests after you eat dinner.
The building is amazing. No detail left out. Really, really beautiful.
And really? I can suck down some "eh" food if I get to watch our girl twirl and smile while dancing with the Beast!
ALLLL week, she just kept saying, "I cant WAIT to dance with the Beast!!" We just kept preparing her for the possibility that the Beast might not be able to DANCE with her, but we'd try our best to get her picture with him.
She had the room and the Beast all to herself, and wouldve danced all night if we let her.
Im not sure we will go back, as the food inside Cinderella's Castle is better, but Im glad we went and thrilled with the memories :)
