Our week started off with happiness and giggles from the two cutest monsters I know!
We've had a lot of great weather and opportunities to be outside. We've all loved more porch time!
And I love catching these two having sweet moments 😃
This dude is ALL BOY lately. The flu and ear infection barely slowed him down in the last week, and I have a feeling the adventure is just gettin started.
Our Tuesday started off with this happiness! How cute is she?! We recently decided to drop Whitney's school hours a little bit so she will still be going five days a week, but I'm going to pick her up at noon three days a week so she can have the Spanish and Art classes at school on Tues and Thurs afternoons. This way, I get the chance to really work with her and challenge her and spend time with her one-on-one when Grady is napping. It should work out better for Grady's naps and I really think Whitney is ready to read, so I'm hoping the extra one-on-one time will give us the hands to work on it together. She will still get all the curriculum at school, and about half the class leaves at noon everyday, so we will try this new schedule out for a while and see how it works for us. She's excited. I'm excited. Next year we won't have the option of picking her up early, so I'm happy to take advantage of the extra hours with my girl this year. And I can't get over how stinkin cute this kid is 😃
After dropping her off at school and letting Grady dance a little at chapel, he and I headed home for a quiet morning of cleaning the house and reading books. I was on the phone with a childhood bestie who was nicely listening to me vent about Ws school stuff. Carolyn always understands and knows what to say. We have both learned that there is a lot of help out there for parents who have kids who are below level or behind in school, but there are very few resources and not a lot of attention given when a parent has a child who is ahead of the game and ready to move forward faster than the rest of the class. She and I were comparing motherhood battle stories when Grady excitedly carried me a book from Whitney's bookshelf, and as he ran across the room, he tripped and fell and smacked his face on the metal frame of Whitney's bed.

It happened so fast. I don't even remember hanging up the phone. And I couldn't believe the amount of blood that appeared so quickly. I rushed him to the bathroom and cleared as much blood as he would let me. I called Eric who rushed home to drive us to the ER. I would've driven him myself but he was coughing so much and crying to violently that I was worried he would choke in the backseat while I was driving. He had already vomited that morning before school when I have him his medicine too fast, so I didn't want his sensitive gag reflex to kick in again.
We raced to the hospital and they got us in right away. On the way there I realized that his gums weren't the only damage. There was a cut in his chin, too. Turns out our little dude had slammed his face hard enough to put his teeth straight through his chin. He had a hole through his chin. You could stick a pencil through it. Giant. The outside didn't look bad a all. But his gums did, and still do, look like mangled uncooked meat.
They have him and IV (ugh. Heart breaking) and then some drugs to sedate him. He sat in Eric's lap with the iPad and started chuckling under his breath. His eyes got droopy and his head started bobbing. He wasn't completely asleep but in a "twilight" state. The doctor put five stitches outside and one inside. He started fighting the drugs and waking up pretty quickly so the doc worked fast. He has cute little blue stitches in his chin 😃
As he woke up, he was giving high fives to the nurses he had been screaming and crying at earlier. He was laughing and blowing raspberries. And it was sooooo nice to see his smile again!
After spending hours and hours in the hospital, we finally got to go get Whitney from my parents who had swooped in to save the day once again. Mac picked Whitney up from school and they got McDonalds and hung out with gramps til we got there. We were excited to head home but before we were even in the house, Eric smacked his head on the stroller in the garage and ended up with a bleeding, gaping wound on his forehead. Really?!
The rest of the night is a blur of watching Grady like a hawk as he carried on as though nothing happened. Stitches in his face?! Won't slow him down! He was climbing over the back of the couch and cracking up. All I could imagine was his head hitting the tile floor. He wants to climb everything and refuses to slow down. Ugh. I get the feeling these will not be the last stitches in this child's body!
Today, he returned to the scene of the crime lol
And between Whitney's school issues and Grady's boy issues and ear issues, this week is a mess. But this little guy popped up and scared me to death just now.
I'm so over this week. I'm ready for Saturday when I plan to bring Whitney to Magic Kingdom for a Mommy-Daughter date followed by some framily coming over to watch Tiger football!

What a long, hard week... Already! I'm sorry Grady had to deal with stitches already... I was an accident-prone child and I held off until 5! Hope the rest of your week is quiet!!
