Saturday, Eric and I laid in the pool and watched College Football (both our teams lost :(), and relaxed some more. Whitney liked her baby pool again :)
Saturday night, our nephews came over to spend the night while their mom and dad moved them into their new house! The boys were GREAT (as always) and Whitney had so much fun watching them! The obligatory cannonball contest was scrapped for an "Uncle Eric, throw ME next!" contest. Eric had fun tossing the boys into the deep end of the pool over and over and over and over again :)
Sunday afternoon, after more time in the sun, we brought the boys back to their rightful owners and had fun unpacking their new house.
I have been bad about taking/uploading pics lately, so here are some pics taken at some point in the past week :)
Someone in this house has 600 toys, but decides that my phone and the remote controls are the BEST toys around! :)

In blog news: I am determined to be more consistent with updating and posting. I get a little disappointed when I visit my "regular blog list" and my favorite bloggers havent updated in a while. I know there are family and friends who only get to see Whitney through this blog, so I want to give you what you come here for :)Updates and pictures!
I think I'll start Weekend Recaps on Mondays, Wordless Wednesdays, Thankful Thursdays, and 5 Question Fridays (c/o My Little Life). (And if you can think of something I should add on Tuesdays, let me know :))That promises people (ahem, Grandma Debbie) four days of pics each week :) Sound good? Okay? Okay.:)
And today, I have a question for all the mommies out there who have traveled with infants under 7 months old. In the next few months and over the holidays, we will be traveling (flying and driving) for the first time with a little one. What are your best tips? What could you NOT live without on a plane/in an airport? What secrets of success can you send me?
Once again, I have NO CLUE who even reads this blog (well, besides Eric's mom and her sweet coworkers!) but I hope some of you will come out of the woodwork! Let me know who you are and how you found me :)

As far as travelling, ive done it quite a bit.
Planes: check your stroller at the gate when you are about to board. lifesaver; drink bottle or have soother for take off and landing; buy some toys that she has never seen before as it will keep her interested longer; pack an extra shirt for yourself (u never know when they will leak); board the plane LAST. they usually call for families with young children to board first but then you are sitting in an enclosed area much longer than you need to. i am always the last to board; if possible get the front seats where there is extra leg room. Lilly loved being able to sit on the floor for a bit.
Cars: DVD player is a must for us. baby einstein or elmo works great; new toys again. only give her one at a time and rotate the toys throughout the trip; lots of breaks and stretching time; extra drinks/snacks (may not apply to her) some fun kid music (lilly loved elmo)
Overall: a carrier/sling is a MUST. i couldn't have travelled without mine. bring lots of clothes but skip lots of diapers as u can buy them anywhere;
Most of all just enjoy your family and friends and have a GREAT time.. :)
I want to see a recipe edition. Of course my favorites are the Whitney updates - but I'm always looking for new recipe ideas. . and I know we're both simple cookers so I want to see some ideas! Okay? Okay. . .and you know how I found your blog :)

Traveling by plane: A must to take your stroller to the gate with you and check it when you get on the plane! A binkie or something for her to suck on for the ears issues, since she is too little to swallow or yawn, etc. Plan flights for nap time as well, sleeping is always good on a plane!
As far as the car, we don't go anywhere longer than an hour or so without the DVD player. Plan to stop alot, and just go with the flow!
For Ethan's first birthday, we got him all these great toys, and what do we have pictures of him playing with? The long cardboard tube from the wrapping paper, and one of him sitting IN the shoebox that a toy was wrapped in. He wanted NOTHING to do with the toys! :-)

I'm not sure how I found your blog, but I've been following it for a few months. I have a little girl a couple months older than Whitney, and I love to see how cute you're dressing her. I too am a fan of bows. BTW - where did you find the super cute flowered shoes she's wearing in the blog.

Hi Kat. I thought I would come out of the 'woodwork' as I have been following your blog since before you adopted Whitney, infact I have been following your story since JM days :) I have loved reading your story and I am so thrilled for you and Eric. Whitney is so gorgeous. Even my four year old daughter loves to see her pictures and always see "awwww mommy she is just the cutest baby, I want a sister like her" hahaha. She really is beautiful and is so lucky to have two as her parents! Thank you for sharing your adoption journey and I hope your family continues to do well.
We traveled to California by plane when Steph was 6 months old. I took our small umbrella stroller and checked it at the gate...that was a life saver so we didn't have to carry her in our arms through the airport...and it was right there at the gate when we arrived. We checked her large stroller since we walked a lot while we were there. Also..take lots of new little toys to play with on the plane..and a paci to suck on during take off and landing for the pressure change in her ears. Some airports will not let you take bottles on the plane with water in them. When we left Austin they let us take the bottles with water in them, but leaving LA they wouldn't. We had to empty the bottles and fill them with bottled water on the plane..which we had to buy in the airport...a royal pain.
Take any comfort items you can for night..blankets, sheets, soothie toys. Anything that smells like home is more likely to make sleeping away from home a little easier. And if you stay in a hotel aske for a portable crib..they are usually free and make getting the little one to bed a lot easier.

O Kat I'm always reading and checking on ya! I've gotten bad at blogging due to a little toddler:), and nannying for a 1.5yrold and 5mon old!
Kat you have had some wonderful ideas already! One thing DON"T check your carseat (gate check IF you have to). You can have Eric go on the plane before you and Whiteny do and if they have an extra seat you can have him install the seat first, this way like others have said you don't have to be on the plane longer then you have to be :) Try to fly/drive durning nap time if you can. Tyler has always been a good flyer and refused to take a bottle or passy. Normally if I could get him a seat he'd sleep the whole time in his carseat :) Make sure you have your manual ready and marked where it says its FAA approved they sometimes give you a hard time. On the car-seat.org site they have a spot about flying with carseats good area to check out :) Most of all have fun, enjoy your family and friends!

Hi Kat! I have been following your blog for well over a year now. I used to be on JM's as well (joeysmommy if you remember). Whitney is absolutely gorgeous! I am so happy for you and Eric!!
As far as traveling with a lil one....I made sure I had a blanket for Joey that smelled like home (really helped him sleep) and plenty of bottles for the trip. That is really the only advice I have...I did bring books to read to him as well, he really liked that.
