Eric and I spent about 2 hours filling out paperwork, signing, stamping, sealing, and double checking paperwork last night. Its sooo exciting! We have completed and sent off our Florida Dept of Law Enforcement background check requests, our physical forms, our Department of Children and Families Child Abuse checks, our employer reference forms, and the easy agency paperwork. We are currently working on the 100,000,000-page questionnaire about our childhoods and marriage. Its hard to guess how we will handle our child's behavior considering we havent even met the kid yet! Of course we have ideas and theories about how we would ideally raise our child...but does that ever really happen? It is fun to think about, but stressful! We want to say the perfect thing!
We have also picked the 3 people/couples who will be writing our OFFICIAL reference/recommendation letters. Dont feel bad if you werent picked! First of all, you cant be a family member...and second of all, its a lot of work. :( I feel so bad asking these people to be so detailed and specific about our housekeeping abilities, rapport with children, and other random topics. There is a guideline for what needs to be int he letter and what should not be in the letter. Kinda pushy!
If anyone else would like to write a letter (without quidelines), you are more than welcome! We would love to add them to our profile for the birthmom to read! Some of you have already offered, but I dont want anyone to feel obligated! We would never have to read it ourselves. You could send it directly to the agency for our case worker to add to the file. :)
We are ridiculously excited for things to move forward. It feels so good to get things in motion. Maybe we will be mommy and daddy by Christmas! :)
