Memorial Day Weekend, Last Day of Kindergarten, and a Birthday

My parents were out of town for a little bit and we were all excited when they got home :) We headed over to their house for some grilling and some pool time!

This kid was SUPER excited to have his Gramps home!

We tried lol

The next day, we got a slow start in the morning but then I found a Groupon for a discounted hot air balloon ride at Downtown Disney! We packed snacks and headed to see what kind of adventure we could get into! Unfortunately, the winds were too high, so we couldnt take off, but we will be back for another try! Grady is SOOOO excited!

Since that adventure was a temporary bust, we headed into Magic Kingdom.  The tram ride is always a favorite :)

Love this guy.

We havent seen the Mouse in a while, so we waited a few minutes to shake his hand :) The kids used Daddy as a ladder.

We said we'd never attempt a holiday weekend at the Happiest place on Earth. Dumbo, Barnstormer, train ride, meeting with Mickey, carousel, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and electrical parade. Six years of experience and we owned this joint

And when we pack our own lunches and snacks (and drinks!), its a cheap playdate :)

"Whoa! Dere goes my train!!"

They seriously love each other to pieces lol

Grady had never been on the Seven Dwarves Mine Train before but he is tall enough to ride, and he loves the Barnstormer, so we gave it a try!

He liked it!

Carousel :)

Whitney loves the ArtForKidsHub .com website! She has been tackling My Little Ponies lately :)

And even though it feels like it was just Christmas last week, it was suddenly Memorial Day!

We had fun at Mac and Gramps' house again!

And on Monday, we hosted some friends for sunshine, pool, and grilling!
Austin brought his gigantic water guns...and we considered letting the kids use them....

How many men does it take to butter, season, and grill corn on the cob?
Who cares! The women don't have to cook! 🇺🇸🌽Thanks, boys!

We have been blessed with friends who love our kids :)

We all had so much fun! The weather was awesome and the pool was warm!

The kids enjoyed gluten free, dairy free popsicles :)

A sign of the times....

LOVE these two!

And evidence that I am NOT the only one who is constantly snapping pics of our kids!

Whitney was SOOO excited to figure out that boogey board surfing!

Whitney and I created a Summer Bucket List. She decided she wants to read 100 books this Summer! "PreK books don't count!" she says.
So while she still has two school days left, we got started this weekend. She's excited to read and flying through books! Summer bucket list winning!

And while the last day of school hadnt officially come, the kids gave me a glimpse of the days ahead....filled with board games and laughter....and a lot of cleaning up messes ;)

In the last week of school, Whitney's teacher sent home the Journal Whitney had been writing in each day at school.  It was awesome to look through the pages and see how far she has come.  Her handwriting, her sentence length, and even that tricky spelling had improved SO much! These are just some of my favorites :)

"I like the part when he decorates his shell! He decorates his shell with a sea star called anemone!"

"My favorite fish are beta fish! I have a beta at home."

"First I went to the store with my mom.  Next I helped my mom get the groceries.  Last we paid and went home."

"I have a friend.  her name is Natalee.  She is my friend!"

"I love my mommy. She loves me.  And I love Mommy!"

"I went to Bonnet Creek and I got my face painted. I went to the pirate pool. It was fun!"

"I went to kickball.  It is fun to go there!"

"I like God.  He is good!"

A few weeks ago, Whitney and I were reading in her bed and she said she missed GG.  I asked if she wanted to look through the photo album we put together after GG went to heaven.  As we peeked through the pages, she casually said, "I miss GG but I know he's happy in heaven because he visited me in my dream with Nanny."

And just like this....Kindergarten was over.  :(

Theyve grown so much this year!

Isnt she soo beautiful!?

It was such a great year, from beginning to the end.  An awesome teacher with SUPER classmates.  A safe and happy school environment.  And a kid who is excited to learn.  What more could we hope for!?

With all her spare time now, Whitney helped me craft a sign for the baby shower we threw last weekend. :)

And our first official day of Summer was spent the best way I can imagine.  Two happy kids.  Lunch in the stroller.  Mutt on a long walk.  Sunshine.

And then the pool.

And much to our surprise and delight, Grady has been taking afternoon naps again! All that swimming and trying to keep up with his big sister just wipes him out! So Ive had a few days with the afternoon in the pool, just me and my girl.  And she. is. awesome.

Last week was Eric's birthday and my parents treated all of us to another awesome meal! Ruths' Chris on your birthday!? Does it get better?!?

Seriously.  My parents are the BEST.

Eric had another great birthday and we welcomed Summer with stuffed bellies and full hearts!

And then, to round out an already-awesome week, THIS happened:

My big brother earned his FIFTH Emmy!
Mom has FIVE holes-in-one.
Dad has FIVE holes-in-one.
Jay has FIVE holes-in-one.
SO cool :) So proud!
