We're MATCHED!!!

It's OFFICIAL!!
Here's the story...and I hope I dont forget anything...my mind is racing and my hands are shaking!!!!! We are BEYOND excited!!

Ok, so Eric called me on my cell phone at work this morning. He NEVER calls me at work..let alone twice in a row, back to back. So after changing another diaper and calming a fussy baby, I called him back hoping nothing was wrong. He said that D, our agency rep, had a potential expectant mommy she wanted to discuss with us. This was at about 11:10am. I told him I could do a conference call at noon, when I went to lunch. (Remember, Eric is in TEXAS!) So for 50 minutes, my heart raced and I tried not to get excited, but kinda thought "wouldnt it be cool if..." :) At noon, I raced out of my room and called D's cell phone. She answered with a cute "Hi, Kathleen!" and immediately said she would conference Eric in. So I waited while she dialed him in Texas and we waited for him to connect.
Once we were all on the phone, D said she had a situation she wanted to talk to us about. She said she had a couple who are married, young, have a 2 yr old son and a 1 yr old daughter, but they are separated and divorcing. She described the expectant mommy (strawberry hair, hazel eyes, etc) and the exceptant dad (brown hair, brown eyes, etc.) She said the expectant dad already signed termination of parental rights (TPR), and that the expectant mommy is "100% on board with this adoption plan". D went on to give details about the expectant mommy's health (no drugs, no alcohol, 2 tylenol cold pills before she knew she was pregnant, etc) and the expectant dad's info. I kept waiting for D to say something "bad" or "scary" or "troubling"...but she never did. She went on and on.
So I said "well, what do THEY want in an adoptive family?"
D went on to tell us that the couple had looked at 5 profiles and didnt like any of them. She said they want a couple who cant have their own children due to infertility. They want a financially stable couple who had a pet and would provide a college education for their daughter. D said they wanted a couple who live in Florida, and who would be sharing a positive story for their daughter re: her adoption. She also said they wanted an adoptive daddy who "looked Hispanic". :) (Eric is not Hispanic, but people talk to him in Spanish allllll the time because he looks like he would speak Spanish...he's Creek Indian and English. :)
So,..D says "Sooo, do you think you'd want me to show this couple your profile???"
and we dont hesitate at her silly question, and we say "Of COURSE! That baby girl sounds like she could be ours...the hair, the complexion, their wants...show us!!!!"
So D says "Wellll, do yu guys want to be parents??"
We say "uhhh, yesssssss"
And D says (this is the best part!) "Well good because they already picked you! You're matched!!"

We all screamed and cried and I couldnt believe my ears :) I was in my car screaming! D said "I told her you would react exactly like you are...screaming and crying! I cant wait to tell her I was right!" :)

So we wait until April 23rd or 24th for the expectant mommy to have a Csection. The expectant parents want to meet us first, and we'd like to meet them. I want to know everyting they are willing to share!! :) So, get reaady for some tense posts before THAT dinner date, folks!! :)

So thats it...Whitney Kate Bass will be here (God willing) April 23rd or 24th, 2009!!!

(Disclaimer: Yes, we know she could still change her mind. We can not IMAGINE what this couple and their two children are going through right now. We are truly blessed that they have chosen us, of all the ocuple they were given to choose from....us. But we DO know that it could all turnaround in the blink of an eye once she lays eyes on her beautiful daughter. We KNOW this. But for now, until we have reason NOT to be excited, we are celebrating. And D even said "BE excited...its safe to be excited." She truly feels, after 20+ years in this "business", that this is a good situation.....so I have to trust in the Lord and know that He will work it al out the way it is planned.)
