My parents came over today. Dad was on Whitney duty (she ADORES him), while my mom and I attempted to tackle a project I had envisioned in my head. Now, when I thought "I could sew a valance for the kitchen sliding-glass-door", I pictured straight lines quickly completed "lickety split"! No problemo!
Well, meet my mother's sewing machine:
This puppy was probably born in 1965 and hasnt been used since my mom tackled a very similar project at our house in Connecticut....in 1980-somethingerother.
After much swearing and even more laughing, we were able to sew 2 straight lines before mom grabbed dad and ran out the door, yelling something about "...let me know how it turns out!" over her shoulder. Clean getaway.
So I was left to complete the project by myself. (Well, Eric had a large role in this project, as I am NEVER using a power drill or intentionally putting holes in the walls...especially while standing on a ladder. So Eric's role was significant, but I bet he doesnt know how to use a 1960's sewing machine!)
Here is the evidence...err...finished product:
"The Devil" (my mom's 1962 sewing machine, with an attitude)

The Workshop (aka, the dining room table)

frames and fabric....not even close to being done at this point:

Eric was a good helper :) (I am not a fan of ladders)

And our picture wall....it took us forEVER to choose pics for the wall since we..(okay, *I* take a bazillion pics a day and she always looks sooooo cute :))

This is post-window treatment, pre-picture wall.
