Visit with Grandma Debbie!

Two weekends ago, Eric's mom made a last minute trip into town.  Grandma Debbie and Papa Butch live 8 hours away, so we dont see them very often. Whitney was very excited to learn Grandma Debbie was coming for a visit!

On Friday, we all went out to lunch and then headed over to Debbie's parents' house to see Memaw and check on Grandaddy as he recovers from galbladder surgery.
Grandma Debbie bought herself a pair of Stompees several weeks ago, and loved them so much she decided to grab a pair for Whitney.
Whitney has been asking for Stompees EVERY time she sees the commercial, so we were all excited when Whitney tried them on for the first time :)

It was nap time and both kids were feelin' it, but they hung in there as long as they could :)

Grady and Aunt Sharon really hit it off as she walked him anywhere his little heart desired, and showed him the amazing garbage truck that rolled past :)

"Did you SEE that?! That's AWESOME!"

Grandaddy is a trooper! Youd never even know he was recovering from surgery! He is as sharp as a tack and loooooves his great grandkids!

Grady loved getting to know Grandma Debbie better this visit :) They waved to the garbage truck, too :)

Then, while exploring the porch, he encountered Grandma Debbie's purse and....JACKPOT....her cell phone!!

He sat there in that corner for a long time, checking the stocks, holding it to his ear and saying, "ha!", and even accidentally calling Uncle Mike as he sat next to us!

He opened some of Grandma Debbie's emails and kept himself (and us!) entertained for quite a while.

But when he started trying to make purchases and call Japan, we had to draw the line ;)

....and the happiest kid on the planet promptly lost. his. mind. :(

He got over the heart break long enough for a quick game of peek-a-boo with Memaw :)

But Eric and I sorta sensed the inevitable meltdowns approaching....
Whitney was whiney and asking to take a nap in the beanbag chair.  When she is asking to nap, that's our cue. Meltdown is COMING!

I LOVE that she gets to see her great grandparents and get tickles and hugs and high fives, and they ask her about school and genuinely love these kids to pieces.  Big families are awesome :)

I never met my great grandparents, so I think its SO cool that Whitney and Grady will have these memories and pictures to cherish.

After finally moving on from the cell phone heartbreak, Grady fell in love with a mini water bottle Aunt Sharon shared with him.

And shortly after this photo was taken, the Bass children lost their minds.  Eric and I quickly buckled two crying kids into their car seats with promises to see everyone later that night after some naps :)

So that night, a handful of family came over to our house for more laughs and time together.

The next day was my birthday and we were jam packed with fun and food, so we didnt see everyone again until Sunday.  We all went over to Eric's Aunt Patti's house where they treated us to a fish fry and beautiful weather on their porch!

Grady wasnt so sure about Eric's brother, Daniel at first.  He wasnt terrified of him, but he definitely didnt want Uncle Daniel to hold him yet.

He played shy and scared for a while, but would sneak smiles at his silly Uncle Daniel as long as Aunt Crystal held him tight :)

And of course Whitney couldnt be happier than when she is spending time with her cousins! Kyle and Dean are SOOO awesome with these kids.

Mike and his fishing friends made awesome fish and hush puppies....Grady approved :)

And this big kid was leaving for his 8th grade trip to Washington D.C.
I remember when we took him to Disney for his 5th birthday.  HOW can he be this big?!

The kids played by the pool for a while.....

.....and Grandma Debbie soaked in some more Grady cuddles.....

......and, as usual, the adults laughed and laughed and had a good time catching up....

.....and then Grandma Debbie joined the fun poolside!

She challenged her oldest grandson, Kyle, to a friendly "I bet I can wrestle you into the pool" game......

.....and....

......she lost.

Kyle had Grandma Debbie in the pool in less than 15 seconds.

Its hard to tell who enjoyed it more :)

We had a really nice time and look forward to the next visit and hope Papa Butch will be able to make the trip, too!

And as cute and fun as all the pics are, this might be my favorite from the bunch :)
Hot cute is this dude?!
