....came to hang with us for the last day of their Spring Break. I knew they'd have fun and wasnt at ALL worried about keeping all of them at our house for the day (despite their mother's well-meaning "Are you SURE???"'s over and over :))
They enjoyed some Wii competition in the morning, and were thrilled to hang out in/by the pool the rest of the day.
How fun are they?!
Whitney was trying to show who was boss around this house...
There was some fort-building...
...Hi, Dean!
And some "Dont Break the ice!" excitement!
Finished off with some yummy home-made pizza, lovingly adorned with their own initial, in pepperoni, on "their half" of the pizzas.
Overall, a VERY fun day for everyone :) I would gladly keep the boys here any time, (as long as my Wii and pool were in working order) :) haha
That night, we had plans to hang out down the street with our fav's Susana, Tom, and the kids, but this mommy was WIPED OUT after a long day, so we were only at their house for an hour before Whitney and I were both ready to hit our pillows. :)
On Saturday, we ran a few quick errands in the morning as a family, and then were very excited to have some of our besties over for some pool fun in the afternoon. Dave, Dallas, Austin, and Faith were SOOO much fun to hang out with, and we all enjoyed the nice weather and relaxing afternoon.
Whitney wanted everyone to know who was queen of the pool on Saturday, and no one argued. :)
Sunday was probably the best Easter I can remember since my own childhood. I know everthing is more fun through the eyes of your child, and this weekend was no different. We went to service at our favorite "home" church, where we were surrounded by all the people who prayed for us and for Whitney for so long. And although Whitney's "exhuberance" didnt allow me the opportunity to hear ONE WORD of the Easter message, I know the meaning and magnitude of the day, and stopped, often, to thank God for the many, many blessing He has given us...."ba ba ba ba" included. :)
After church, Whitney fell asleep in the car. It was no shock, since it is her normal nap time, but Eric and I decied to take the opportunity to "just drive". We stopped by Walmart to get some flowers for my mom. At a stoplight nearby, Eric said "This is the kinda day where you wish there was a boiled peanuts stand along the road on the way home..." :) We both smiled and agreed that it WAS, in fact, a good "boiled p-nuts kinda day". So, with sleeping, happy toddler in the backseat, we drove out of our way to the spot that usually has a little stand with YUMMY, fresh boiled peanuts. We had to drive past out house to get there, well out of our way, but it was worth it when we pulled up and saw all the "P-NUTZ" signs lining the highway leading up to the stand. :) We split a yummy bag of "P-NUTZ" (haha) and decided to drive around the lake and take in the beautiful weather while enjoying our treat. :) We let our princess snooze happily in the backseat and we drove around our town, happy to see the many outside church services underway along the water's edge. Very cool.
As if on cue, Whitney woke up as we pulled into our neighborhood, so we ran inside and refuled our diaper/snack bags, quick diaper change, and headed over to my parents for Easter dinner.
You woulda thought Santa Claus had made a return visit to Mac's house overnight. Whitney got more Little People, balls, beach toys, and a few other "Easter-type" toys (lamb, hat, duck, etc). We all ate dinner on the porch in the beautiful, gorgeous weather, and then sat around watching Whitney play with her new toys. She had so much fun entertaining us, and skipped her afternoon nap....so we came home, tossed her in the tub, and said good night to a very happy baby girl who has made so many dreams come true.
She couldnt get enough tickles from her Mommy and her Mac:
And all that playing lead to one verrry sleeeeeepy baby :)
Yes...she was really asleep...she was THAT tired :)
Hope everyone enjoyed a nice, relaxing weekend with family and friends! I hope and pray that we can raise our little girl to know th true meaning of the holiday, and to appreciate the family and friends that gather to celebrate His ultimate sacrifice for us.
