Thanks for Noticin' Me

As I have said before, Bailey has been a wonderful, if not slightly aloof, big brother. So far, soooo good. He is happy to go on a walk everyday, even if its 1000 degrees and the walk is brief. He has ignored her cries/noises for the most part, and has only sniffed her head or hand a handful of times.
Until today. Today, it was like Bailey realized that this little girl is not like the other little kids who have visited our home. This little princess is not leaving! Bailey hung out with Whitney int he bathroom again this morning while I dried my hair and got ready for the day. He laid closer to her than normal but I thought he might be getting used to the vibration of her bouncy seat.
This afternoon, Whitney took a looong nap on the couch next to me, while I internetted and tried to get things done around the house. Disclaimer: when you see these pictures, please do NOT freak out and yell at me for having her on her belly. I was RIGHT THERE, next to her. That position seems to help her gas issues, and I watched her like a hawk. So chill.

He took that exact moment to shake his lion-like mane, but before I could grab the camera he was cuddled up on the couch watching Whitney breathe.

"What Mom? I'm just tryin' to get to know my little sis!"

And when he was done posing for pictures and making nice with the new addition, he went back over to "his" spot and watched the lake for any signs of the stork.

I think he was worried that bird might bring ANOTHER one of these "little sisters". :)

And this is Miss Whitney, hanging out on the bop.py her cousins Kyle and Dean handed down to her. :) She reallly likes her tummy-time. (I caught her posing in the mirror I lay in front of her....tooo cute!)

Oh..no yelling about her being on her tummy from me. I do the same thing with Shelby.Shelby loves to lay on her tummy. And I am always right there with her too.

Adorable!!!

I am so NOT going to yell at you for tummy time. I would like to share a small word of caution for future reference by telling on myself. I let my daughter roll off a recliner when she was close to three months old. I was sure she couldn't move enough to fall off it, and I walked away for a minute or two. From a semi-reclining position, she leaned forward and somersaulted off the front edge. I thought I'd killed her! Then, my hubby let her roll herself off the couch, after I told him what I'd let her do and warned him about her ability to move more than we thought.

Enjoy the little bug-a-boo. She reminds me greatly of my little girl with that head of dark hair.

Firstly, anyone who thinks you don't know what you are doing needs to just know that you know what you are doing! You can't follow every single rule exactly. Gavin would not sleep EVER on his back! I know you know many other of the beautiful children that you took such great care of that it was the same situation. Secondly, the book thing cracks me up because that was SOOOOOO us. Gavins love for books is amazing at 14 months. He no longer lets us read to him. He rips it out of our hands and starts turning the pages and points and says "cow" "duck" or "cat" (even if it is none of those things). He ignores MOST of his toys and is always in his books. I feel like I talk to you every day because I read this and can't wait to do so. Hope to see you soon. I know and am just so happy for your happiness!

About being on her belly...go for it...I did it too...shhhh don't tell...Samuel sleeps on his belly in his crib all alone and is just fine....I think it helped him sleep longer earlier too! Try it!

Bailey is such a proud protector!

Kat do not worry what others might want to tell you that you might be doing wrong! You are an AMAZING MOMMY and ANYONE who knows you knows you would NEVER do anything that might harm your precious princess!

I absolutely LOVE all of your pictures! You have a BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS!

Hooray for Bailey dog! Glad he's adjusting well and taking on the big brother roll.
As for belly sleeping - Wilson was a full-time belly sleeper by 5weeks. It was the only way to keep him asleep for more then a few minutes.
No yelling here!
