Last week, one of my FAVORITE college friends came into town to celebrate her son's birthday. Damien turned 6 while they were visiting from New Jersey, and it was sooo fun to see Whitney and Damien interact and get along. We spent the day at Disney before Alexa brought Damien on a Disney Cruise to end their week.
He was SOOOO good with Whitney and SOOO polite! Alexa is rockin' the single mom status and really raising an awesome little dude. Please, Thank You, Excuse me, ....the works. He was seriously a pleasure to be around.
Whitney now has favorite rides that she HAS to go on whenever we go to the Magic Kingdom. The teacups are her absolute favorite, but she also LOVES to ride Dumbo and the carousel. She's such a fun age!

We had such a fun time catching up and reminiscing about the "good 'ol days" when life was all about going to class making fun wherever we went. We are all grown up, Lex! We have KIDS now!?!? So fun to reconnect and relive the good times while laughing about the bad times. :) Funny how college seems like 100 years ago sometimes....but when you get around a good friend, you are right back in the middle of those days and memories and moments like they were last week.
And, lest you think this blog is NOT entirely about Whitney, I will share these funnies with you:
This is how we found her when we went to get her up one day last weekend. Silly kid.
She is loving Snow White lately. Cinderella and/or Snow White go with us pretty much everywhere. I am now frazzled while trying to keep track of A)Whitney, B)bear blanket, C)Snow White and/or D)Cinderella. Its no surprise that we lost Snow White within hours of buying her at the Magic Kingdom. Thankfully, the customer service at EPCOT was AMAAAZING, and they gave me a credit to go pick up a brand new SNow White at their gift shop.

I got out a bunch of stickers for Whitney on a rainy day last week. I debated warning her about where stickers DO and DO NOT belong, but decided to let her play on her own and see what happened. She ended up with stickers up and down both arms. So cute, and MUCH better than the "stickers on the walls/table/tv/windows" i was imagining in my head :)
Last week, we helped move my Grandpa (G.G.) into his new place. He seems realy happy at this assisted living home and Whitney was THRILLED to be a part of his "Welcome Wagon". She kept him company while Mom, Dad, Eric, and I moved all of Grandpa's stuff in from the cars.
She absolutely ADORES G.G. and loves to show off for him :)
She was so excited to accompany G.G. to lunch with his new friends! As we walked down the long corridor to the cafeteria, the walls were lined with walkers and wheelchairs and motorized scooters. As a nice elderly lady made her way slowly towards us behind a walker, Whitney gasped, stopped dead in her tracks, and yelled, "Wook out! CAR COMING!!"
I suppose if it has wheels, it could be perceived as a car. We are still laughing at that one :)
She thinks it is HILARIOUS that G.G. says he "cant find her anywhere!" when she wraps herself up!
A few more recent funnies:
* I wrote "____ days til Whitney turns TWO!" on the chalkboard plate in our kitchen. We've been counting down the days each morning. Whitney pointed to the giant piece of sidewalk chalk I use and said, "Mommy, crayon. I hold it." I told her "That does look like a crayon, doesnt it? Thats called chalk." She looked very serious and then we moved on. A minute later, she pointed to the chalk again and said, "Mommy, chocolate pweas. I hold it." Chalk = chocolate :)
*For a long time, Whitney has poitned to the smoke detector in her room and said "circle!" each night before bed. She started pointing to it before bed one night and saying "green!" I looked closely and noticed the small green light on the smoke detector, indicating the batteries are good and its working. We had just watched Tinkerbelle, so I told Whitney that the little green light could be Tinkerbelle on her ceiling :) She loved the idea and waved to Tinkerbelle and said goodnight.
Eric and I sat on the couch smiling and laughing as we listened to the following over the monitor two nights ago:
"Heww-o??? HEWW-O?? Tink-a-bell! Where arrre you, Tink-a-bell? C'mout c'mout where-ever you are, Tink-a-bell! Hewwwo??"
* I forget that Whitney has the most amazing memory EVER. She doesnt forget ANYTHING. We went to Disney with some friends yesterday (pics soon) and I showed Whitney the playset Castle that Mac and Gramps got her for her birthday. It. is. amazing. I can NOT wait to play with this castle. It has all the princesses and their princes and some mickey and minnie topiaries. TOO cute. Like a doll house...but a CASTLE. So Im all excited to see what Whitney thinks of this castle, knowing that she is getting it in a week or so. I roll her stroller up to the giant box and display and excitedly say, "Whitney! What do you think of this CASTLE!? Isnt it awesome??!!" and she calmly looks at me and says, "For my bir-day, Mommy. Mac."
That stinker heard me casually and QUIETLY tell someone, "My mom got Whitney the castle for her birthday" (almost in a whisper!) and since she doesnt forget ANYTHING, she now knows what she's getting for her birthday next week. My own fault. I need to be careful what I let fly around here!
I am in the final stages of planning Whitney's party :) This Sunday, we are expecting about 75 people at the park to celebrate with us!! I have a mental checklist that is not coming together as smoothly as I'd hoped, but it will all get done in time to make our little girl's 2nd birthday magical :)
