Whitney's Wednesday

(..because, let's face it...I am WAY better at "Whitney's" Wednesday than I could EVER be "Wordless" Wednesday.....)

Whitney spent a few hours with my mom this morning while I went to the doctor and grabbed some groceries. This was the first time I have left her side since we brought her home almost 9 weeks ago. It was obviously harder on ME than it was on HER. She slept 99% of the time, only waking up briefly for Grandma to change a diaper and get a few smiles. I, of course, got all teary-eyed when I said bye to her and was fighting tears all the way to the doc's office. I mean, it wouldn't have been so bad if Eric and I were going out for a date night and leaving her with my parents...or if a group of friends were getting together and we decided to leave Whitney with them so we could be "just us"....or if we were going to a movie or something fun or exciting. I would have been occupied with conversation, other people in the car, and maybe even some laughs. But today, when I left the house without my Whitterbug for the first time, I sat in my car ALONE and drove to the girly doc. Awesome. Cant really think of a worse "first time you had a baby-sitter" story to tell her someday. Oh well. We all survived, and since that whole girly doc thing only happens annually, I wont have to leave her again until June 2010. Sweet!

(yes, I am kidding.)

(sorta.)

So after the doc, I ran to Walmart for some groceries, and couldn't resist a stroll through the baby clothes and the dog toys. Both of our kids had prizes for behaving with their baby-sitter :) Bailey is notorious for taking the squeaker out of his toys. Often, visitors will exclaim, "Oh NO! Bailey! Kathleen...he tore his toy apart! There's fuzz and fluff everywhere!" (or some variation of these concerns) We always brush it off with a "oh. we know. that's just what he does. he pulls the fluff out of all of his toys, finds the squeaker, and then walks away."
We really cant buy the "good" toys anymore, because he has mastered those, too.

So I, being the sappy momma I am, HAD to buy him one (ahem, three) toys today since he is such a great big brother. :) He's earned them!

Imagine Whitney's surprise as she witnessed Bailey tearing apart a BRAND NEW TOY, right before our eyes! We were innocently reading books in the playroom when Bailey came bounding in with his BRAND NEW giraffe in his mouth, ready to get to work.

She sat down to take in the show, and clearly could NOT believe her eyes.

She was starting to get ANGRY! "Mommy! You just bought him that toy! Why is he ruining it!?"

Then she wanted to get a closer look to see what was soooo exciting about this white, fuzzy stuff...

"OOOoooo....Mommy's gonna be MAD at YOOOOOU!!!"

"Well now wait a minute....this kinda looks like fun......let me just try....."

"Hey man, this giraffe is sorta fun without the stuffing....who needs stuffing anyway!?"

"YOU are the COOLEST big brother!! You just destroyed a perfectly good, brand new toy WITHOUT getting yelled at....AND those two parents of ours took PICTURES while you were Captain Destructo!! I'm gonna watch EVERY move you make, man....you're GOOD!!"

"Oh...hi Mommy........ummmm, I didn't do it. Bailey did it. Look at him! What a NAUGHTY doggy!!!"

"I just stood here looking cute, telling him 'Bad dog! No! No, Bailey!' I tried to warn him!"

"Hey wait Dogger...Where you goin'? I have so much more to learn!"

....kinda makes you wonder what Thursday will bring, huh? :) Life is good...

I love how Bailey is so great with W. We have a dog named Bailey as well and he's just as destructive with his toys too, however our Bailey is only 12 lbs. You can just see how well adjusted he is. Love the pics, too cute!
