*Once again, I am thankful for Eric! He was nice enough to share his cold with me, but he made up for it by going to the store before work yesterday. He came home with orange juice and some good drugs to clear up sinus stuffiness. He also got out of bed at midnight, having been asleep for 2 hours, when I needed his help elevating one end of Whitney's crib because, in my drug-induced haze, I was convinced that Whitney was going to wake up with the same sinus yuckiness her parents are enjoying. She was a little stuffy, and I am thankful Eric didnt complain or curse me out for being overly-cautious :) AND...AND..AND....he is so amazing because he is going to head to Walmart tonight after work because we need "a few things" (read: a list a mile long). I was hoping I would feel well enough to head out myself, but my ears are so clogged that I get dizzy when I stand up. wah wah wah, i know.
*I am thankful for Mucinex 12-hour because, even though it causes the above-mentioned haze, it DOES make this cold better than it probably would have been if I had tried to tough it out without drugs. (Did you know you have to give your driver's license to buy that stuff?? jeesh.)
*I am thankful that my Aunt is coming into town tomorrow :) She hasnt seen Whitney since W was 2 weeks old, so I cant wait to see W interact with her now. I'm also much more generous in allowing others to hold her than I was back when she was only 2weeks old...so I bet Aunt Ger will get some cuddles and lovin' from The Whit.:)
*I am thankful for my girlfriends and sister in laws....again....really, they are the best. EVER.
*I am thankful that I just got to spend 45 minutes snuggling my Whitterbug on the couch. I know that I would be missing out on that if I had to work outside the home, and I cant tell you how much I appreciate being able to be home with our little girl everyday. Dream. Come. TRUE.
*I am thankful for the many compliments Whitney has received in the last week of travel. She has been completely off schedule, but has rolled with the punches and smiled every step of the way. Her 6 month doc appt was the morning after we got home from Texas. The doc noted what a "perfect disposition" Whitney has, and that just felt so good. :) I know it. Eric knows it. People who know Whitney know it. BUt it is so nice to hear someone else, who doesnt know Whitney well, mention what a good baby she really is. :) Makes me feel like I am doing something right :)
*I am thankful for all the family we have, near and far. Eric's dad and stepmom and brothers and sisters really made the San Antonio trip special. It was so fun to spend time with them, just having fun and enjoying each other's company. I am reallly looking forward to our trip to see Eric's mom and stepdad for Thanksgiving in a beach house with his brothers and sister in laws from that side of the fam. Never a dull moment, and all about being a family. Love it. I am also thankful for my own family. My parents are always ready to lend us a hand, pick us up from the airport, watch our mutt, or just love on Whitney at the drop of a hat. I am so grateful that our relationship has grown so much. I am grateful for my brother who, even though he lives far away, takes the time to send Whitney little gifts to let her know he thinks of her. I love that he includes cute notes just for Whitney. I am saving them for her to read when she is old enough to know that Uncle Jamey lives far away but he still loves you! And I am thankful for the family I have spread out across the country. Even though the cousins dont talk regularly, part of what makes us so fun is the way we can all fall back into place when we do get the chance to see each other. I may not talk about it much, but I have a cousin who has followed his life-long dream and moved across the country to LA and is working his butt off to become a director/producer. I also have two cousins who have a band and they tour with some amazing groups and their drive and motivation is so inspiring. I am so proud to be their cousin, and not just because they are about to be hugely famous :) I didnt grow up around any family, so I am extremely grateful that Whitney will know her grandparents and cousins.
*I am thankful that Whitney's halloween costume is done, and that she doesnt hate it :)She tries to turn around and grab the wings, but we'll only put those on for pictures anyway :) I can proudly say "i made her first halloween costume" and now I never have to do it again :) Store-bought from now on!
*I am extremely thankful for the millions of pictures we have taken since Whitney was born. I love looking back through the albums and seeing how teeny tiny she was, and remembering each moment as her mommy. Sometimes it all seems like a blur, but I am so grateful that the pictures tell our story as a family. :)
*I am thankful for the pillow I am about to lay my head on while W takes another nap. I will be REALLY thankful when this cold exits our house!!
