Wedding Weekend Update

We had a GREAT, LOOONG weekend!

Thursday
On Thursday afternoon, we flew to San Antonio for Eric's brother's wedding. The bride, Christina, is from San Antonio and we were so excited to be headed to such a FUN city with lots to do and see! Whitney was a champ on the plane ride there. She fell asleep a few minutes after taking off, slept for about 2 hours, and then woke up just in time to smile her way through the landing. :)

My addiction to Face.book proved very helpful on this trip, as one of my status updates caught the eye of a high school friend who happened to be in San Antonio on business! Cynthia and I graduated 12 years ago, but spending the evening chatting and catching up made it seem like we just graduated last month! Love how things fall back into place like that :) We both agreed it would NOT be another 12 years before we meet up again. :)

Thursday night was spent in a the comfiest hotel bed EVER, snuggling with our little girl who slept through the night and woke up smiling and giggling. :)

HAD to snap this pic as we passed this sign for the gazillionth time :) We thought of our friends The Lees every time we passed by the Corpus sign, since we know they love and miss that place soooo much!

Friday
For the past 5 years I have grown closer and closer to a group of girls I "met" on an internet message board. Our "Hot Mamas" live all over the country (plus Belgium!). Our San Antonio Mama, Beth, met up with us on Friday morning at the San Antonio Zoo! Beth and her DARLING kids Hailey, Ryan, and Aiden were soooo wonderful! They didnt even mind joining our giant family as we attempted to see the whole zoo :) I couldnt have planned the zoo trip better if I tried! All the kids were smiley and happy, and all the adults agreed that Beth and her kids are honorary members of the fam! (Although we understand if they are not exactly 'honored' with that distinction...as there are a LOT of us, and we tend to exist in our own lil world sometimes! :))
Whitney grabbed as much Aunt Lynzie love as she could while Corbyn slept!

Whitney makes some pretty funny faces this trip!

Me, Whitney, Beth, and lil Aiden...only 8 weeks old! SOOOO sweet! Whitney loved him :)

...but not as much as she LOOOVED Aiden's big bro, Ryan! And how could she NOT!? Look at this kid! GORGEOUS!

Practicing flirting with Ryan. :) Showing off her impressive rasberry-blowing skills...

Whitney has a boyfriend...Whitney has a boyfriend....!

Our nephew Kyle was tossing popcorn in the air and this bird showed us a few tricks.:) Hailey obviously thought it was VERY cool :)

Smile....ish...sorta...?

Stroller Brigade :)

Me and Beth trying to get Whitney to SMILE for the camera!

Well, at least WE smiled! She looks slightly scary here...practicing frightening Halloween poses??

Proof that I DO allow others to hold my child! :) Eric's cousin Devin ROCKS...allll the kids loooove her! (And I do, too!)

More flirting with her boyfriend...

...and she got him to smile at her :) I think he's playing hard to get....

Our AWESOME nephews, Kyle and Dean...seriously some of the BEST KIDS I know. LOOOVE them! THey are AMAZING cousins to Whitney and she ADORES them both!

Hailey (aka Hannah Mo.ntana!)

Ryan pretending to frown :)

Devin and Hailey...BFF!! Hailey kept saying "hey! hey! C'mere!" to Devin. :) Devin obediently followed and entertained Hailey (or was Hailey entertaining Devin??) It was VERY cute to watch Hailey become part of the family :)

Some Daddy-Whitney time :)

Ryan LOOOOVED Eric....and Eric just gave us more evidence that he would be an awesome Daddy to a little boy :)...someday..?

Beth's boys. SOOOO sweet! LOVE THEM!

Whitney waving to Corbyn once he finally woke up to join the party :)

Corbyn still trying to shake the sleep from his eyes :)

A REAL LIFE SOPHIE!! :)

Kyle and Whitney playing patty-cake :) She thinks he is HYSTERICAL!

Kyle was such a huge help throughout the trip...pushing the stroller, grabbing a bottle, making Whitney laugh....truly a GREAT cousin!

Whitney wanted more face-time with Aiden :)

How gorgeous is she!?

Hailey running the show and telling Whitney's Uncle Joe allll about school and the animals we saw. :)

The Sleeping Whitney Exhibit

Fascinating, right? :) She was awake most of the time...

Corbyn woke up to enjoy the last few minutes of the zoo trip :) His laugh is infectious!

The Basses take on the San Antonio Zoo!
Joe, Lynzie, Corbyn, Daniel, Crystal, Kyle, Dean, Devin, Me, Eric, Whitney, and Parker

Me, Beth, and our girls (the boys were sleepin'...kinda like Whitney in this pic)

Lynzie, Me, and Crystal :)

Friday night was the rehearsal dinner at San Antonio's beautiful Riverwalk Hard Rock Cafe. Whitney, again, did great with all the noise and chaos of the restaurant and the family. :) She actually fell asleep after dinner, allowing us some time to visit with family. Thankfully, Whitney LOOOOVES her stroller and took more than a few naps in there this weekend.

Show Off...

The Basses

The reason we were in San Antonio: Eric's brother, Jake and his bride Christina
The whole family apparently has a "let's make the first one FUNNY!" picture-taking theory.

...but they eventually get a good one. :)

Dean had a drink with a cherry in it...and it made him REALLY happy :)

Whitney ADORES her Papa!

Devin ADORED everyone's sundaes! :)

Lynzie and Corbyn snuck in some cuddles in between wedding-party stuff.

More smiles from Whitney....she LOOOVES that man! Dont they look alike!?

And here's that Family Picture-Taking Theory in action again...

...and again...

...my turn...

...finally. :)

Then it was Whitney's turn....

...to test the theory....

...and be SILLY!

More scary faces from Whitney...but we look cute :)

And then she passed out.

Eric, Joe, and Corbyn after the rehearsal. We loved sitting outside on the riverwalk!

Saturday
On Saturday we slept in a little and then took our time heading to The Alamo. It was exactly as everyone described it and took exactly the 5 minutes everyone said it would take to see. We snapped a few pics and headed to some true Tex-Mex lunch with the fam, and then headed back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding.

Christina and Jake got married on Saturday afternoon in a gorgeous ceremony with lots of special, personalized touches. The weather was PERFECT! After watching the fam break it down on the dance floor, and crying my eyes out during the father-daughter dance, we headed back to the hotel to CRASH. Whitney, once again, beat us to it and crashed in her stroller after smiling her way through the ceremony and most of the reception. :)

Dancing the night away....

....Corbyn got into the groove, too!

Crashed.... :)

Sunday
Sunday morning we got up early and headed to the airport to head back home. Eric's dad, stepmom, three of his brothers, sister in law, and 2 nephews were on our plane. :) Whitney fussed for about 5 minutes on the descent, but was really good the rest of the flight. Smiling, laughing, and talking to her cousin Kyle (who was a BIG help this whole weekend!)

We really had such a great first family vacation! If Whitney continues to be such a great travel buddy, we might just be headed on vacations more often! :)

PS Do you have ANY IDEA how long it took me to upload ALLLLLLLLL these pictures!? :)
