Our Daily Schedule:
Whitney got a bit off track in the past month, with the holidays, visitors, and just general everday life. She went through a phase where she only wanted to sleep on me or in our bed with us. I would LOOOVE to lay down with her for a nap each day, but I also have to get stuff done around the house, shower, eat, etc. She is back on track now, napping in her crib and only getting up for binky retreivals at night :)
Activity:
Whitney is a super speedy crawler now, and she has taken as many as 4 steps at a time :) She is sooo strong and determined to climb on anything that looks climb-able. (Yes, thats a word...i think.) She loves following Bailey around, and she is right on my heels throughout the day. Two days ago, she sat in the laundry room with me while I hung clothes and folded laundry. THen she followed me as I walked across the house to put the clothes away. She was laughing and thought it was so funny :) She loves going on walks and swinging at the park by Mac's house. She could spend allllll day walking through the house with her pink walker, and she still loves to watch Letter Factory every single day :) She is talking more and more, blowing up full conversations and copying a lot of the sounds we make. She even copied Bailey's "woof, woof" the other day! SOOO cute!
Sleeping/Napping:
Whitney continues to be a great napper, taking a 2 hour nap 10am-12pm, and then another nap around 2 or 3pm for an hour or two. She has skipped the afternoon nap on a few recent occasions, but powered through like nothing was different :) She tried to convince me she doesnt NEED that second nap, but Im not buying it yet. At her 9 month appointment on Monday, the doctor said we need to drop her middle-of-the-night bottle, COLD TURKEY. As in, MOnday night = nooo bottle when she fussed in the middle of the night. MOnday night went surprisingly well, with Whitney waking up a few times but only wanting/needing cuddles, showing no interest in a bottle. The second night, she skipped her 8pm bottle completely since two of her favorite people were here (Mandi and Danielle), and she was distracted before she crashed for the night without a peep. So when she woke at 12am, I didnt even think twice and gave her a bottle. Last night, I TRIED to avoid a bottle, but her lil tummy was growling. So as much as that doc says we NEEEEED to drop that bottle, I know my kid better than she does. And Whitney DOES need that bottle. Whether its for comfort or the extra calories, she needs it. She'll drop it when she's ready. And really, whats the WORST habit that can form because of a midnight bottle? I am hoping that, as she starts walking and wearing herself out more and more everyday, she will start to sleep through the night wihtout waking for the bottle. And maybe as she starts eating more table food, and filling herself up during the day, she wont need those calories at night. Either way, Im not worried about it.
Eating:
Whitney is eating more and more table food each day. She's tried mashed potatoes, carrots, green beans, mac and cheese (which is hard to say around here since she hears "Mac" and thinks we're going to see her Mac...and then Bailey hears "cheese" and thinks he gets a piece of cheese....so we need a new name for Mac and Cheese around here :P ), yogurt, all the gerber fruits and veggies, gerber snacks, cheese, and this morning she tackled some pancakes for the first time. Shes definitely not very picky and will open her mouth to try anything we offer. She looooves her sippy cup of water and kicks her feet when we say "want some cheerios?!" She knows the big yellow box :)
Personality:
Whitney's personality still amazes us everyday. She is a super happy baby who likes to take in the whole situation before deciding if she wants to smile. Id love for her to be one of those babies who lights up and smiles at every single person who gives her a smile, but she tends to reserve her smiles for the ones she knows well. She will eventually smile at everyone, but she tends to pause first, just to make sure Mommy and Daddy think its okay to let a smile fly. :) She blabs all day long, getting louder and louder everyday. She is so smart, remembering certain pages in her favorite books and flapping her arms and squealing when we get to the parts she likes the best. She is fearless, climbing on everything and never crying when she bumps body parts or falls down. She gets right back up and keeps going. When she does startle herself with a sudden crash, she looks around to see if we noticed. If we dont make eye contact, she keeps going like nothing happened. But if she sees that we watched her, she has this fake cry that goes away as soon as we cuddle or hug her and tell her its okay. She has us right where she wants us :) She waves o herself in the mirror all the time, and loves saying "HI yi yi yi yi" in the mirror :)

Glad the chair picture worked out for you! IT'S ADORABLE!!! She is so darn cute. I love that her personality shines right though the pics!! When we started to get Ethan off those late night ones, we switched to a sippy cup, and then kind of lowered the amount he got over a period of time, and then even started watering down the milk, etc, to where he just didn't need it. So, that might be something to keep in mind, if you want. :-)
