T requested to sign papers today. The hospital told her she can sign today, but as soon as she signs the consents, she must leave the hospital immediately. !?! Basically "Thanks for signing over your kid, now get out!" Nice, right?
So the agency is working with the hospital's head social worker to try to allow T to stay one more night even if she signs consents today. She isnt feeling well and wants an extra night there to recover, but she also wants to sign consents and see us with the baby. The hospital said they would allow us to go up there to visit with T, but we would not be allowed to see the baby until after consents are signed. That's fine with us! But why do they need to kick her out as soon as she makes the most difficult step in her life? I think its just awful, and I dont blame her if she chooses to wait another night and sign consents tomorrow...i know its not her first choice (or ours!), but if that is what she needs then the hospital should help her in any way.
So...we might go up there to see T today,but not see the baby. We might go up there to pick up the baby today, but that would mean T was kicked out. We imght not do anything today and just let it all unfold tomorrow.
I will keep you posted. There is yet another agency/money issue that has come to our attention, so just pray that the agency gets their heads out of their butts and does the right thing. We have all been through enough. T and us. Enough already.

I can't believe the hospital would kick her out after having to pretty much the hardest thing in her entire life.

Wow, that sounds like good news! Lots of prayers coming your way-you could have her home today! Yipee!!! Your agency, however, needs to be investigated. What a mess they are. Can't wait to see her!
Wow, the hospital seems to be a little irrational, huh? That's just so sad. Alot of the time, the baby has to say, but the mommy is allowed to leave... Their policy doesn't make any sense. I really hope that T gets her wish to see you with the baby. I can see why that means so much to her. You'd think they'd understand that. Anyway, Lots of prayers for everybody! I'm so excited for you and Eric! It's just wonderful. :)

Keeping all of you in my thoughts. Sounds like such a crappy hospital policy. I'm relieved to hear T still plans to sign over rights and place with you and Eric. Sounds like Whitney will be in your arms in just a little while. Huge hugs!
Wow, I'm really disliking the agency and the hospital. I think the hospital should treat all moms the same whether the baby is adopted or not. I don't see how that's their business at all. That should be between the parents and the agency.
At least it sounds like you WILL be bringing your little girl home soon.

Gosh! What a rollercoaster! I do not understand why your agency didn't know about the hospital's policy and try to find an adoption friendly hospital.
S was going to be discharged the day after she had given birth but the hospital allowed her to stay as long as insurance covered it. And she almost stayed another day too. It is too bad that T has had this experience at this hopsital. So much of this could have been avoided if only the agency or the hospital would have reacted differently.
I hope you get to see the baby soon and I hope that T is able to see her daughter with you and your husband as her parents. God bless and you all are in my prayers.
I would definitely write a letter to the hospital and to the agency defining everything that could have been done better. And if the hosptial says it is because FL has a closed adoption policy then write your congressman/senator.

Wow, so exciting and so uncertain! Sounds lie, the hospital has a rather unsupportive attitude towards adoption in general, that sucks! I am thinking of you and praying that T. is well cared for and you get to be with your baby soon!

Please take this the right way, but I sure hope that T is encouraged to sign tomorrow so that she can get the medical care/rest that she needs/deserves right now. It seems ridiculous that it should be an either/or, but if it is, I've gotta think that she should wait to sign.
I know it's hard for you guys, but in the grand scheme of things, you'll have your little girl forever. T needs this time to recover - and I can't believe the hospital would basically give her such an ultimatum.
