Confusion

In typical form, the agency did NOT call us with any news or updates today. We knew that T was checking in at 11:30 this morning, and that, a week ago, she wanted to call us herself as soon as she felt alert and ready to talk.

Now, a week later, the baby is here. She was either 8lbs. 4 oz. or 8lbs. 5oz., depending on when we asked D. (She told us both weights.)
She was born "sometime after 12:30" this afternoon.
We dont know if she was healthy. Dont know if T is healthy. Dont know if there were any complications.

What we DO know:
The "Head Social Worker" at the hospital has met with T and offered assitance/counseling of some kind. That social worker told M to leave the hospital because T does not want any agency representatives or adoption-related guests. The hospital policy states that the State of Florida does not recognize semi-open adoptions, so this is a closed adoption scenario. Because this is the case, NO adoption-related visitors will be allowed to see T without explicit consent from T to the head social worker. T has already told this woman that she does NOT want agency people there. The hospital policy does not allow us to visit, even if T wants us to, until after consents are signed. And even then, it seems to be discouraged.

So, for now...we know that T does NOT want us there. Does NOT want agency people there. And apparently does not want to talk adoption.

A, the rep from our agency who went to dinner with us last week, is scheduled to go to the hospital tonight. A is a registered social worker, who happens to be on our agency payroll. So she technically could get into the hossy tonight, but I am betting T turns her away and does not want to visit with her. We'll see. We will get a report about that attempt tonight.

M was with T before the csection this morning, and was with her after the csection was completed. But then was asked to leave since T didnt want her there anymore, and hospital policy supports T's rights to be left alone.

So...if you asked me right now if I thought this was good or bad, i would instantly say "this is very bad." I just dont think this points to anything good or positive.

Kathleen- There are no words. Just know that you are in my thoughts through this. I am hoping and actually praying (and I am not the praying type) that you get to meet your baby girl soon.

Much love,

M

Thinking of you.....

And know that she *may* need some final alone time with the baby.

She *may* be changing her mind.

She *may* be trying to deal with the hormonal adjustments (they're no fun, that much I can attest to).

But we're here for you no matter WHAT.

Hopefully she just wants to rest or just not deal with it right now. I know sometimes I just don't want to face something right away. Maybe she just doesn't want to deal with agency stuff right now. Maybe she felt M was being too pushy with her or something. maybe she's pissed b/c she found out she wasn't going to get to see you at the hospital, so she just doesn't want to deal with it right now. It sucks for you guys, but I'm sure she's just looking out for her own feelings right now.
